GRAPHIC NOVEL ADAPTATION~
Three talents
with a background in comics, a great story, and a lot of passion
all make for one irresistible idea. With the accelerating popularity
of manga and graphic novels, it’s
only natural to broaden Elfin’s
audience with a graphic adaptation. The story is epic in nature and easily translatable
into a graphic version that will appeal to visual readers. As a graphic novel,
Elfin would stand among esteemed company–popular novels such as
Stephen King's
Dark Tower series as well as Orson Scott Card's Alvin
Maker series and R.A.
Salvatore's Dark Elf series are all being adapted into this format.
Whereas these excellent stories cater to older readers, however, Elfin remains
geared toward a younger audience that the comic book industry has largely abandoned.
The Writer
- Much of the breathless plotting and fascinating
characterization of Elfin were learned by Eric Friesen
while serving as story advisor to Gospel Publishing House's briskly
selling Welcome to Holsom comic series.
The Illustrator
- Sonny Carder has brought his
unique illustrative style and graphic design skills to several
projects and now has turned his attention to creating
an emotional, cinematic experience for Elfin.
The Colorist
- Welcome to Holsom is only the
latest comic creation for Craig Schutt. In addition to writing
an developing independent comics for years, Craig has colored
and lettered for D.C. and Marvel comics.

cONCEPTUAL~
The samples below spotlight our initial concept
of creatively combining prose and image beyond traditional comic
book conventions. Production stopped once we realized we might be
creating unrealistic parameters (full-color, excessive page count,
impractical dimensions, etc.) for our graphic novel that no publisher
could affordably print. So we wadded up our wish list and chose
to wait for a publisher who might pick up the novel and ( assuming
initial sales warranted it) seek additional ways to braden Elfin's
audience. This will provide publishers with maximum flexibility
to develop the property.
